We are now nearing a decade of very choppy hiring markets for young workers. The latest unemployment numbers once again leave them out from posted gains. Not even the boom in temporary employment included them.

The United States has one of the highest rates of unemployment among 20-to-26-year-olds in the world. Nearly half of the U.S. army of unemployed is under the age of 34. As for those who are hired, there is a huge gap between wage expectations and paycheck realities, which is exactly what you would expect in a post-boom world. 

The young generation faces challenges unlike any that most people alive have seen. This situation requires new adaptive strategies.

V razvitem svetu je depresija ena najpogostejših duševnih motenj. Prizadene lahko kogarkoli in močno ovira vsakodnevno delovanje. Depresija je ozdravljiva, mogoče jo je preprečiti, predvsem pa je mogoče doseči, da se ne ponovi. Bipolarna motnja razpoloženja je prav tako pogosta in mnogokrat jo zamenjamo za druge duševne motnje. Spada med resne duševne motnje, vendar jo je mogoče uspešno zdraviti, preprečevati ponovitve in človek lahko z njo živi povsem običajno in uspešno. O duševnih motnjah še vedno ne zmoremo v naši družbi odkrito in brezskrbno govoriti, saj jih spremljajo stigma, sram, nerazumevanje in močan strah. Ljudje zato pogosto odlašajo z iskanjem strokovne pomoči, si skušajo pomagati sami in se včasih zatekajo tudi k neustreznim rešitvam. Zato priročnik o prepoznavanju in obvladovanju depresije in bipolarne motnje razpoloženja, s pomočjo osebnih zgodb običajnih ljudi pojasnjuje, kako poteka prepoznavanje teh dveh motenj, kakšno je življenje z njima ter kakšne so možnosti za samopomoč in zdravljenje.

In den 1970er Jahren trat die Frauengesundheitsbewegung als kreative feministische Strömung in Erscheinung, die das männlich dominierte Gesundheitssystem radikal infrage stellte. Ausgehend von aktivistischen Selbstzeugnissen und Interviews können Anliegen, Ziele und Aktionsformen des Protestes von einst genauer beleuchtet werden. In den Schilderungen zwischen Aufbegehren und Professionalisierung zeigt sich: Kritik kann als Politikum dieser sozialen Bewegung gelten. This book is the first ‘groundwork’ on Muslim NGOs in contemporary Ghana. It builds upon a database of more than 600 Muslim non-profit associations, foundations and grass-roots organisations whose activities are traced through extensive use of social media. The first part of the book scrutinises the varieties of their activities and operational spaces, their campaigns and target groups, alongside their local, regional, national and international connections. The second part analyses contemporary debates on infaq, sadaqa, waqf and zakat as well as Islamic banking and micro-finance schemes for promoting social welfare among Muslim communities in Ghana.

By examining how NGOs operate in Southern India in the early 2000’s, this book discusses the challenges faced by small, local NGOs in the uncertain times of changing aid dynamics. The key findings focus on what empowerment means for Indian women, and how NGO accountability to these groups is an important part of the empowerment being realised. The notion of community empowerment, in which the ‘solidarity’ of a group can be a path to individual empowerment, is discussed, as well as analysing how empowerment can be a useful concept in development. Based on case studies of 15 NGOs as well as in-depth interviews with 80 women’s self-help groups, the book highlights the key features of effective empowerment programs. The author uses innovative statistical analysis tools to show how a key factor in empowerment of marginalised women is the accountability relationship between themselves and the supporting NGO. The book goes on to discuss the ways that NGOs can work with communities in the future, and recognises the limitations of a donor-centric accountability framework. In der medialen Öffentlichkeit besitzt das Thema Demenz hohe Präsenz. Menschen mit Demenz selbst kommen dabei aber kaum zu Wort. Diese vernachlässigten Stimmen bieten die Basis von Valerie Kellers kulturwissenschaftlicher Studie zur Selbstsorge bei Demenz. Anhand von Gesprächen mit Betroffenen zeigt sie auf, wie Menschen mit Demenz auf sich und andere einwirken, um mit zentralen Herausforderungen ihrer Situation umzugehen. Na stresne okoliščine se vsi odzivamo podobno. Stres je normalno odzivanje na spremenjene okoliščine in sam po sebi ni duševna ali telesna motnja, pogosto pa je sprožilni dejavnik za vrsto duševnih in telesnih motenj. Krepitev duševnega zdravja in preprečevanje nastanka duševnih motenj temelji predvsem na povečevanju odpornosti na stres in reševanju vsakodnevnih težav na način, da se stres zmanjšuje. O duševnih motnjah vemo bistveno manj kot o prehladu, sladkorni bolezni ali drugih zdravstvenih težavah, poleg tega jih še vedno spremljajo stigma, sram, nerazumevanje in močan strah. Številni zato odlašajo z iskanjem pomoči, si skušajo pomagati sami ali se zatekajo k neustreznim rešitvam. V priročniku je posvečena posebna pozornost prepletenosti stresa in motenj razpoloženja ter pojasnilom, kaj se dogaja v našem telesu, ko je v stresu in kakšne so lahko dolgoročne posledice. S pomočjo osebnih zgodb običajnih ljudi je predstavljeno, kako poteka prepoznavanje anksioznih motenj, kakšne so razlike med različnimi vrstami anksioznih motenj ter kakšne možnosti so na voljo za samopomoč in zdravljenje.

Truth be told we want an over night change in our lifes.

There are many moments when the actual reality is very difficult to handle and looks like we have no escape at all.

We dream of a quatum jump, even if we dont understand the concept very well.

In few words, the reality sucks and we dream of a life that we will never have, because deep inside us, we dont really believe we will ever meet this reality.

We have a fake attitude that we are looking for change, but this attitude is just a mask for our fears... as them not to be seen.

So we wonder today if there is a way of how our lifes can be changed in what we think that should be better for us.

Does it exists a system that we could follow and achieve our dream life?!

But it must be a simple way ... otherwise we know that we will not follow the path.

Everything is happening is related to us, and everything could happen is also related to us.

The magic answear, because we are looking only for magic answears, is the art of defining life.

Yes ... this is an art.

We need to start be honest with ourself, and all the answears to simple questions as “why am i fat?! ... because i eat to much” , “why my partner is cheating on me?! ... because i did not knew to be that perfect partner that i had to be” and the list of questions will go on.

We need to start defining what we dont like. Once we undestand that the change is in our powers and if we really want a change, we will start the process of achieving the new life we dream at.

We dont need to go to a therapist, we dont need to study motivational issues of social media and dont even need to read hundreds or thousands of books to start the change process.

 

The art of defining our lifes, means that we have the courage to understand what we dont like and define very clear how our reality should look like.

 

 

The depression, or what we call depression, because many things are unclear in our minds, is this huge gap between where we are now and where we want to be.

We are looking for a magic bridge that should help us go very easilly from one point to the other.

The process itself is a very simple one, as long as we decide to be honest to us.

The art of defining ... yes ... is an art.

And also to live ... is an art.

Once we decide that we are brave enough to live our lifes... the dream life... the magic will happen, cause all the magic is our powers.

The book “The beautiful illusion of being in love” is a collection of writings with what is love about.

Starting from the philosophical idea that everything we see in life is just an illusion, the book is defining the concept of love in the same way.

But the illusion itself is also named “beautiful”.

Falling in love is an experience, that any human being must see, with it’s own soul.

It can be a beautiful experience, an illusion or a beautiful illusion.

The book is more like a collection of poems, but the writer is not knowing to write poetry, but only essays.

 

Trying to define love in many ways, the essays speak about the beautiful illusion as part of the life ... maybe the most important part.

Defining is done in a micro and macro way, but the love is always seen as something very beautiful.

 

The book could be a very nice reading for the ones that are in the dreaming period of a love story, or the ones that wants to understand love from a philosophical point of view.

This book offers a micro-global history of humanitarianism and medical care during the ‘long’ Second World War, challenging the traditional Eurocentric chronological boundaries of 1939/1945. It takes as its starting point the Japanese invasion of Manchuria in 1931, which led to the progressive dislocation of the League of Nations, with Japanese, German and Soviet departures in the 1930s. It ends with the termination of the Korean War in 1953 and the subsequent dismantling of the first United Coalition and UN peace enforcement operation. This periodisation allows the contributors to consider the role of extra-European spaces and conflicts, such as the Italo-Ethiopian War, conflict between Peru and Ecuador, and the Second Sino-Japanese War. Using innovative methodological approaches, including a focus on medical care and intimacy (Chapters 1 and 4), this book is neither structured around breaks and ruptures, nor linear shifts from ‘imperial humanitarianism’ to ‘neo-humanitarianism’ or ‘amateurism’ to ‘professionalism’. Instead of creating a metanarrative and an overarching story of humanitarianism during the long Second World War, it considers the slow, messy and ambivalent transformation of humanitarian actors’ relations to the suffering of distant others through studying humanitarian encounters, practices, spaces and affects. Paying close attention to actors such as French colonial doctors (Chapter 2), Swiss ICRC delegates (Chapters 3 and 10), Egyptian relief workers (Chapter 4), Chinese-style physicians (Chapter 5), Peruvian and Ecuadorian nurses (Chapter 6) and American members of the Unitarian Service Committee (Chapter 7), this book does not erase the important differences between them but provides a more holistic story of humanitarianism: one that recognises its complexity and the intensification of circulations from one conflict and front to another.

We all experience emotions – and the experience is not always pleasant. Being sensitive by nature, we are inevitably vulnerable to these feelings. But must we be helpless? What exactly are emotions, anyway? Where do they come from, how many are there, are they any use to us – and, if we don't like their effects, is there any way to get rid of them?

Drawing on a variety of sources including western psychology and eastern philosophy, as well as the experiences of a long and varied medical career, the author describes a simple and practical model which can be used to understand, and potentially to relieve, the emotional distresses of everyday life.

The book is both a subjective exploration of, and a practical guide to dealing with, the emotional aspects of human experience. However, it is not a form of therapy, and the techniques described in it should not be practised during the course of a mental illness. Mental illness requires medical treatment – whereas this book mainly offers mental exercise.

The elements of the model described have always existed, but they are presented here in a way which the author considers potentially useful to a wide audience. A single underlying cause for our many emotions is suggested. Their complex effects on daily life are then discussed in detail, and simple techniques for their exploration and resolution are described.

This book is written for anyone who would like to understand the human mind better – or who would simply like a happier and calmer life. However, it certainly does not guarantee either result. Nor does it pretend to explain life's underlying mysteries – which words cannot, in any case, effectively address.

On the other hand, a better understanding and fuller resolution of emotions allows a clearer view of the mental landscape. That might well lead to a more peaceful and joyful life. But it would be an optional extra – bought with your own hard work.
