Part two of the The Other side Of Midnight.

Where we left off is Demiris hiding a coma driven Catherine in a convent. She stays there for years until she wakes up with amnesia and can't remember who she is and how she got there. The book is told from two sides - Demiris' quest to fall in love with Catherine while keeping the real truth of their relationship a secret from the first book, and Catherine slowly but surely regaining her memory and trying to escape Demiris' clutches. While it's a snooze fest halfway in, the ending certainly makes up for it, and gives us a fitting end to the entire saga. ( )

Superb!

Memories of Midnight is the sequel to The Other Side of Midnight, written nearly two decades later. The events of this book take place in the late 1940s a little after the finish of Other Side, several main characters carry over - Christine Alexander aka Mrs Larry Douglas, Constantin Demiris the billionaire schemer and his wife Milena, and Napoleon Chotas the savvy lawyer.

I read this cover to cover in one sitting. Whilst not as long as Other Side, the writing is silky smooth, the story a constant guessing game of who's doing what to whom (or about too) and that ending! Just when you think you have it all figured out... it's a completely different resolution and you can't help but smile as you close the back cover.

I would definitely recommend reading The Other Side of Midnight first for a better understanding of the characters and events however Memories has enough background to stand on its own if you only have it. ( )

good novel of revenge

Shadowed by tragedy and burdened by amnesia, a beautiful woman desperately tries to return to reality. She is Catherine Douglas, destined to once again challenge the cruel, charismatic power of Constantin Demiris, the Greek shipping tycoon who murdered Catherine's husband. Now, in the glittering capitals and carefree playgrounds of post-war Europe, Demiris sets his deadly sights on Catherine -- and the single, treacherous secret whose shattering truth is known to her alone...

Wow. I used to love this authors books and since I've noticed I have a hard time falling asleep when I read a thriller I had to lay down the thriller and decided to pick this book to read.
(Well it did make me sleepy lol) I can see why i used to love these books but alas not anymore.
The story is so unrealistic it gets annoying.
well i still have a few books by this author (and I saved all my Dutch copies but I know now I can get rid of those) ( )

Set in London and Greece, this is Sidney Sheldon's sequel to The Other Side of Midnight. Greek tycoon Constantin Demiris likes his revenge ice cold. Months after he had Catherine, his mistress, and the lover she betrayed him with executed, he decides to tie up loose ends by having everyone who can link him to the not entirely sucessful crime killed off.

Catherine is currently suffering from amnesia and Constantin can't stop toying with her, as she is basically the only one who knows enough to sink the shipping magnate. I enjoyed this book but found it slightly farfetched. I give it a B+! ( )
