An excellent family drama/mystery involving a missing ship and crewman who left his fiance behind in Norway, and who while his ship was sinking threw a message in a bottle overboard sending her a mysterious lottery ticket to claim. A dastardly villain, a mother with a secret, a daughter in dispair, a brother trying to keep his family safe, and a kindly old man whose love for this family does everything in his power to save the day! This started slow, but rapidly picked up in pace and interest as the story rolled on. By the time I hit the halfway mark, I was fully invested in the plotline and the characters. The sending, too, was quite well done. Overall, quite a good novel.
