When it comes to bath time the boy cannot take his bath until he has enought tub toys. Many students can relate. He keeps piling them in until there is no room for him in the tub.

This is a hilarious story of a boy preparing for his bath. He starts collecting all of the things he needs in the bath with him. He apparently needs everything from a rubber ducky to an eggbeater and empty bottles. His parents are trying to hurry him and as they do, Dad is suddenly shown as a shark and mom as an octopus. In the end, he realizes he has so many things in the tub that there is no room for him. The illustrations add to the story and make this a fantastic, humorous read aloud. ( )

This is a good example of realistic fiction becuase it is a fictional story set in present day. The things that he adds to the tub are really things and the activity of putting toys in a bathtub is pretty normal. The main character (who has no name) is developed by the narrators view of him adding toys to make the bath fun. We know all about his desire for a fun bath making him a round character.
