The wars of the British Empire spanned the world and changed the historical development of numerous countries and people. However, countless animals also played an important role in the glory and honor of the Empire in these wars, as is examined and evaluated in more detail in this study on the basis of several case studies. Frank Jacob shows how important the use of animals was in the wars of the British Empire and to what extent the outcome of these wars depended on access to “animal resources”. In the course of this, Jacob presents a history of the wars of the British colonial empire that runs counter to anthropocentrism.
