La Edad Media proyectada
0 Ungluers have Faved this Work
The vast majority of publications on the Middle Ages in cinema focus on Anglo- and Francophone cinematography, and especially on the reception and reinterpretation of medieval history north of the Pyrenees. This volume, published in several languages, shifts the focus to the Iberian Middle Ages and brings together a set of pioneering studies on medieval-themed cinema and television by Spanish and Portuguese creators and industries. The volume delves into questions of recreation, invention, congruence and precision. Furthermore, the contributions analyze the extent to which views of the medieval period reflect certain uses and abuses of the Middle Ages as a means of addressing questions of identity or nationality. To do this, the authors study aspects such as intentionality, political ideology and legitimacy. On the other hand, this volume aims to create a space for methodological reflection and, to this end, brings together the analyzes of researchers interested in the cinematographic Middle Ages from very different disciplinary perspectives: art history, history, archaeology, film studies, the history of music and literature. In this way, this book highlights the need for cross-cutting approaches and the development of more inclusive research
