Philosophical thinking involves the existential dimension of the thinker, and with respect to these Letters on Being, the latter (being) of course involving everything we say "is," it happened that one day, at dusk, "something" said within me: I am the greatest and the first of all evidences, namely, the evidence that "something is," that "there is something," that "being is." Then this "something" continued telling me that, at the same time that "there is something," that "it is being," it is the greatest of all mysteries, precisely because we have not the slightest idea why it is what it is. This or that reasoning can be explained scientifically, but whatever it may be, this has no explanation. In the end, we always arrive at the conclusion that there must be something that simply gives itself, that is a gift, that is a present (and, by the way, gratuitous): this is being. Along with this, this book proposes building our lives entirely on the foundation of mystery, its recognition, veneration, and celebration. Thus began a conversation with the being that is captured in this collection of letters.
