The Network of Chilean Universities for Rural Education (RUCHER), which brings together twelve universities, has actively worked on this report. This report, developed by academics from the Network of Chilean Universities for Rural Education, presents an overview of its functioning and its challenges. It incorporates the work developed by the Technical Roundtable for Rural Education, which presents a set of proposals for the development of Chilean rural education. We hope to contribute to the challenge of visibility and improvement of education in rural territories that is expected to be achieved. Its contributions have materialized in research, spaces for dialogue, and collective construction for the development of rural education. In 2021, the Network published its first book, Rethinking Rural Education, thus consolidating its commitment to this work. This report was prepared in 2021, systematized, presented, and revised in 2022, and submitted for publication in 2024. It does not consider the current government's public policies on rural education (2022-2026: Gabriela Mistral Rural Education Strengthening Plan) due to the reporting period.
