Current data – especially from the post-pandemic period – show an increase in difficulties among young people, including anxiety, bullying and relationship problems. The development of life skills such as empathy, interpersonal skills and emotional management counteracts these difficulties. Based on this, the peer tutoring project "La Banca del Tempo" was launched at various secondary schools with the aim of promoting adolescent well-being by means of cooperation- and solidarity-oriented educational strategies. The study analyses in particular the experiences of the young tutors, i.e. the students providing assistance, and what they have learned from this peer tutoring project. The results of the quantitative-qualitative study show an improvement in relationship skills, self-esteem and metacognitive awareness. Peer tutoring thus increases the well-being of young people and promotes the formation of supportive networks among peers.
