Knowledge management engages a diverse array of actors, relationships, and processes, each shaped by the specific context in which it unfolds. This dynamic entails the design of mechanisms to transmit knowledge, which is then appropriated in varying ways by the recipients. In this text, we explore how the unique socio-cultural dynamics of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, in Magdalena, foster distinctive knowledge management processes surrounding the production and commercialization of coffee. By tracing the socio-historical development of a cluster initiative and a productive chain organization, we highlight the critical role of trust, kinship ties, cooperation, and the connection to the land in driving innovation in ecological coffee farming in the region. Additionally, we offer a set of recommendations grounded in the experiences of local actors, emphasizing leadership, governance, the strengthening of inter-institutional cooperation networks, and the recognition of indigenous knowledge and innovations.
