This book analyzes the interactions that the rural community of El Cinco, in the municipality of Manaure (Cesar), has established with the land in which they have lived and worked for half a century. In this way, it addresses elements that demonstrate the transformation of the productive systems of the village, while also accounting for the forms of local organization and community fabric, as well as the tradition and culture of the peasantry. The text is also supported by an audiovisual production around the history of two peasant women as a participation strategy in the investigative process. This ethnography narrates the transformation of life in the area: from its settlement, through the displacement of traditional crops to illicit ones, and then the eradication and environmental impact, continuing with the armed conflict and forced displacement, to culminate in the return to the territory and the implementation of blackberry crops. Thus, different events, ruptures, and overlaps are presented through the collective memory of these Colombian peasants.
