This field guide was designed with the purpose of being a preliminary identification tool for the amphibians and reptiles of the city of Santa Marta. Likewise, the great herpetological diversity found in the urban perimeter and surrounding areas stands out, such as, for example, the Tayrona National Natural Park and the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, these being places of great importance for the conservation and research of endemic and threatened species of the dry and humid forests of the department. The tourist influx in the city of Santa Marta provides a wonderful potential for interaction between people and herps; Therefore, it is necessary to know in advance the different herpetological species that can be sighted in this area of the country.
