Der Deutschunterricht ist politisch, ob durch seine Indienstnahme für Staat und Nation, ob durch eine neoliberale oder kritische Ausrichtung. Seine Macht entfaltet er oft nahezu unbemerkt, durch die Legitimierung von Sprache(n), Identitäten und Denkweisen. Wie aber wird diese Wirkmächtigkeit von der Deutschdidaktik beforscht? Welche Lernbereiche, Materialien, Fragestellun-gen werden untersucht? Und mit welchen Konzepten werden die hegemonialen Diskurse diskutierbar und dekonstruiert? Dieser Band gibt einen Einblick in Forschungen zum historischen Deutschunterricht und zu kritischen Konzepten jenseits des Nationalstaates in der Migrationsgesellschaft. Er hinterfragt, wie Politik als Thema von Sprache und Literatur didaktisiert wird, auch was politikdidaktisch offen bleibt. Zielhorizont ist eine Reflexion der eigenen Zunft mit Blick auf Versäumnisse, aber auch auf Potenziale für Gegenwart und Zukunft.
