Although Levi-Civita is universally recognized as a great mathematician, his work as a science communicator, particularly of the theory of relativity, is often overlooked. We present here—in facsimile—four of his most significant articles in this field, accompanied by an introduction that places them in their historical and scientific context. What emerges is a Levi-Civita who dedicated himself to disseminating the principles of the theory of relativity, thus revealing a previously unknown aspect of his work as a scientist.
