On July 14, 1975, the Senate of the University of Karlsruhe (TH) approved the renaming of the Institute for Physical Education to the Institute for Sport and Sport Science. In five main chapters (institute history, studies & teaching, research, university sports & sports facilities), interspersed with portraits, digressions, and interviews with contemporary witnesses, the book traces the IfSS's development from an outsider position to an integral part of KIT (including its prehistory dating back to the German Empire).
