The research explores the dynamics of transformation within the political class and local leadership. Through a case study of Pistoia, an emblematic city of the so-called “red zone,” and a qualitative analysis, the study examines changes in the processes of political recruitment and circulation, with particular attention to how pathways to power have shifted following the weakening of party roles and the increasing importance of individual resources.
