This publication outlines the work of the German research consortium Capital4Health, established in 2015. The consortium focused on fostering active lifestyles across various settings, including schools, kindergartens, vocational training, and communities. The project utilized the Cooperative Planning Approach (CPA) for the co-production of sustainable physical activity interventions. The report offers practical insights into CPA's application, providing a detailed guide for health promotion practitioners interested in this specific participatory method. In addition to practical guidance, this publication reports the challenges, successes and needed adaptions of CPA across the empirical projects. Further, it reports on several evaluation tools, the scaling up of CPA for broader public health impact and discusses its integration with theoretical frameworks like the capability approach.
