This reprint aims to introduce the readers to the latest research in approaches to and strategies for the improvement of nutrient use efficiency in plants. Fertilizer management, crop system change, and the selection of high nutrient-use-efficient varieties are all useful strategies for the improvement of nutrient use efficiency in plants. Therefore, in this reprint, research groups from around the world have investigated the effects of different fertilizer management strategies on plant growth, yield production, physiological response, and nutrient transfer and utilization, as well as the evaluation of nutrient use efficiency in different plant species and varieties. The knowledge gained is a perfect addition to nutrient use efficiency improvement in plants, and can be applied for practical use in food production, soil improvement, and the breeding of superior varieties in agriculture and forestry.
