This Special Issue brings together nine high-quality feature papers on an array of topics all related to the present and future of the global ocean. Spanning a variety of topics and research methods, these papers display the diversity of subjects covered by modern oceanography, especially as they relate to human impact, such as autonomous drones, particulate pollution, oil and gas extraction, vessel traffic, and hypoxic dead zones.
