Graves’ disease is an autoimmune thyroid disease that causes hyperthyroidism. It is a common thyroid disease. The disease affects all organ systems and can impact the quality of life. It causes thyroid ophthalmopathy, which can lead to disfigurement and requires careful evaluation and treatment. Recent research into the pathophysiology and treatment of Graves’ disease has led to therapeutic developments. The pathophysiology, with an emphasis on the autoimmune nature of the disease, as well as the diagnostic evaluation and treatment of Graves’ disease, are discussed within the book, along with any novel developments in these areas.
