LncRNAs contribute to cancer progression by regulating gene expression epigenetically and post-transcriptionally. They influence tumorigenesis through interactions with chromatin modifiers, act as competitive endogenous RNAs to modulate microRNA activity and regulate processes such as epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) that facilitate metastasis.
