As offshore wind, subsea pipelines and reef island infrastructure move into deeper waters and more challenging soils, engineers must confront a spectrum of geological and geotechnical marine hazards that can compromise safety, performance and sustainability. This JMSE Reprint brings together peer-reviewed contributions from the 2025 Special Issue “Advances in Marine Geological and Geotechnical Hazards”, offering a comprehensive overview of current research into seabed characterization, soil–structure interactions and hazard mitigation strategies. Spanning numerical modelling, laboratory testing, field monitoring and machine learning applications, the collection addresses the urgent need for reliable design frameworks that accommodate cyclic loading, gas-charged sediments, carbonate sands, hydrate-bearing clays and coastal excavation effects. This Reprint serves as a reference for scientists, engineers and regulators engaged in unlocking the ocean’s energy potential while safeguarding critical offshore and coastal infrastructure.
