This Reprint brings together the contributions of the Special Issue “Light from the East: The Catholic Eastern Churches Sixty Years After Vatican II”. The chapters examine the life and mission of Eastern Catholic Churches through historical case studies and contemporary theological debate, with special attention to ecclesial identity, synodality, ecumenical dialogue, and pastoral renewal. Topics include resilience under religious persecution and political pressure, the restoration of communities and institutions, diaspora and belonging, the renewal of the married presbyterate, and the formative role of liturgy and mystagogy. Together, the studies offer resources for constructive renewal and for dialogue within the Catholic communion and with the Orthodox Churches, showing how Eastern traditions contribute to the Church’s catholicity today.
