The volume set in the contemporary debate on urban and architectural adaptation to the climate and ecological crisis, responding to the need for integrated design tools. Cities are spaces of vulnerability as well as laboratories of change: while responsible for a significant share of emissions, resource consumption and biodiversity loss, they simultaneously represent a privileged context for experimenting with strategies of systemic transformation. The book is conceived as a theoretical and practical guide to addressing this complexity through the principles of technological and environmental architectural design, contributing to the development of a new design culture capable of integrating climate resilience and urban biodiversity. Through the integration of theoretical frameworks, operational models and design solutions, the volume promotes a holistic vision of architecture and the city as dynamic systems able to adapt to change and to regenerate urban ecosystems.
