Social reconstruction in post seismic emergency

Social reconstruction in post seismic emergency

0 Ungluers have Faved this Work
The role of architecture in the post-emergency phase following an earthquake is investigated based on the hypothesis that public open space can promote the social and psychological reconstruction of the community. Through inspections and interviews conducted in the town of Accumoli (RI), hit by the 2016 earthquake, it emerges that temporary settlements represent a crucial phase in fostering interaction and reducing isolation, thereby avoiding long-term repercussions. However, the approach to their design is often purely functional, both in Italy and abroad. This study proposes design strategies that allow for rapid decision-making while maintaining a social perspective, aimed at supporting trauma recovery and collective well-being.
