This volume brings together a selection of essays dedicated to the memory of the Slavist Claudia Pieralli. It aims to retrace the main areas of inquiry that animated her research, with essays by scholars devoted to concentration camp literature, dissent, twentieth-century theatre, emigration, as well as the various forms of cultural influence between Russia and Italy. The second part is devoted to recollections and further reflections by other scholars and colleagues, which highlight a range of themes shared with Claudia Pieralli: the recovery of memory, freedom of expression, and dissent, all converging in a shared vision of humanistic research that places at its centre the highest values of a broadly conceived European identity; an identity of which Russian culture remains an integral part.
