L’instrumentum inscriptum dagli scavi di Arsinoe

This volume presents stamped amphorae from Arsinoe, discovered during the 1965 excavations by the Istituto Papirologico “G. Vitelli”. Originally catalogued by M. Manfredi, the material has been re-examined and edited by F. L. Rizzo. The assemblage consists of Hellenistic amphorae and mortaria, offering fresh insights into Fayyum trade patterns during Hellenistic and Roman times. The finds are contextualized alongside evidence from Alexandria and other Fayyum sites, examining commercial networks and papyrological sources. Entries are organized by production area. Each stamp includes full documentation: formal and palaeographic analysis, transcription, description, correlation with major catalogues, Manfredi's notes, and graphic-photographic apparatus.
