Ultra-high-strength fine-grained structural steels are increasingly used in mobile cranes. However, welded joints considerably restrict the resilience of the structures. This work investigates laser beam and laser beam GMA hybrid welding and shows their applicability to practically relevant structural details. The focus is on the fatigue behaviour of the joints. Based on this, design recommendations as well as a method for delimiting the low-cycle from the high-cycle fatigue regime are derived.
