This work analyzes, from an interdisciplinary perspective, the relationships between ecotoxicology, environmental contamination, food security, and socio-environmental sustainability in southern Angola. The study addresses the main ecological challenges faced by the region, including desertification, prolonged droughts, water scarcity, degradation of natural resources, environmental pollution, and the impacts of climate change on ecosystems and human populations. The research is grounded in the integration of environmental sciences, public health, sustainable agriculture, environmental engineering, and ecological governance, enabling a comprehensive understanding of the interdependence between environment, food systems, and quality of life. Throughout the book, the ecotoxicological impacts of contamination on fauna, flora, biodiversity, and food systems are discussed, as well as the effects of water, soil, and food pollution on public health and the nutritional security of communities. The work also examines the socio-environmental vulnerabilities of populations in southern Angola, highlighting the importance of family farming, sustainable natural resource management, and the implementation of public policies aimed at territorial sustainability. In addition, the book emphasizes the importance of ecological technologies, the restoration of degraded ecosystems, integrated water management, and environmental governance in promoting climate resilience and food security. It concludes that regional sustainability depends on the articulation between environmental preservation, human development, sustainable innovation, and the strengthening of ecological strategies capable of ensuring greater ecosystem balance, social justice, and quality of life for present and future generations.
