Migration transforms both the migrants and the environment to which they migrate. This mutual influence (for example, through colonization or exile) is particularly noticeable in Romance-speaking countries, both historically and currently. These areas serve as a starting point, a stopover zone, or a final destination for the migratory process. The transnationalization of societies entailed by this process is considered an ambivalent experience, which can be interpreted both negatively—in the form of conflicts, adaptation difficulties, and rejection—and positively, as an opportunity for mutual enrichment and for the creation of new artistic and coexistence forms. This volume approaches these topics from different perspectives and disciplines. It discusses and develops pre-existing approaches and addresses the potentials and challenges of new theoretical, methodological, and practical viewpoints.
