This first volume argues that social work training is also a language learning process that teaches us to name human dignity while erasing our own history. As Mapuche professionals, raised in different communities across Wallmapu and educated in Chilean schools, high schools, and universities, we graduate at the heart of a profound paradox: while the profession proclaims human rights, social justice, and well-being, the Mapuche people remain absent from these definitions, relegated to the silence of the curriculum and official history. Written from the perspective of my brothers and sisters trained in social work, this book is not an academic exercise in detachment, but rather a critical return to the experience of those who were educated to understand the world through categories that rendered their own history, memory, and territory invisible.
