This book offers a comprehensive interpretation of one of the most original, critical, and committed thinkers of contemporary Christianity, Giulio Girardi. Rather than presenting a biographical reconstruction or a compilation of specialized studies, it provides a systematic reading of the philosophical unity underlying Girardi’s intellectual legacy and demonstrates the enduring relevance of his thought for understanding the major ethical, political, educational, cultural, and ecological challenges of the twenty-first century. From an interdisciplinary perspective, the individual chapters examine the evolution of Girardi’s intellectual journey, from its philosophical and theological foundations to his engagement with political philosophy, the dialogue between Christianity and Marxism, grassroots ecclesial communities, the labor movement, Latin American Indigenous peoples, popular education, interculturality, and integral ecology. Collectively, the contributions reveal that, beneath the thematic diversity of his work, lies a profound coherence grounded in a fundamental conviction: the search for truth attains its fullest meaning only when placed at the service of human dignity, social justice, freedom, and the emancipation of peoples. In a context marked by the crisis of democracies, global inequalities, the rise of artificial intelligence, cultural transformations, and environmental degradation, this volume invites readers to rediscover an author whose work continues to challenge established certainties and demonstrates that philosophy reaches its greatest fruitfulness when it becomes a critical conscience of history, a horizon of hope, and a lasting commitment to freedom, justice, and the care of our common home.
