Oxidative stress causes an imbalance between reactive oxygen species (ROS) and antioxidant mechanisms. The body's inability to detoxify itself over long periods, combined with the ongoing increase in ROS, leads to oxidative stress. Increased oxidative stress leads to ion channel opening and oxidative damage to cellular components, including proteins, lipids, and nucleic acids. The early development of aging and metabolic problems is significantly influenced by inflammation, driven by pro-inflammatory molecules generated by oxidative stress and ROS. It is essential for scholars in free radical science to understand the dual nature of ROS. This is only possible if we look at oxidative stress management and neo-antioxidant processes in tandem. Gaining a comprehensive understanding of this area will help us better understand and treat ROS-mediated and related illnesses, opening up new avenues for future medical research and treatment. Finding this precise balance between oxidation and reduction may be crucial to the future of ROS research.
