Toxic organic compounds known as persistent organic pollutants (POPs) are resistant to breakdown by biological, chemical, and photolytic processes in the environment. Currently, a significant number of POPs are utilized as industrial chemicals, solvents, medications, and insecticides. POPs bioaccumulate and have an impact on the environment and human health globally due to their persistence. It can spread from one nation to another through wind and water, meaning it can have a significant impact on people and wildlife far beyond the areas where it is used and discharged. According to the UN Environment Programme (n.d.), exposure to POPs has the potential to lead to the following health issues: cancer, allergies, nervous system effects, and Immune system effects.
