One of the most common metaphors in the Spanish Golden Age is that which describes literature as the architecture of words. *Traces and Structures of Ingenuity* explores this metaphor and its implications by examining how and why Golden Age writers employed these images, how they evolved, and how these changes relate to cultural and literary history. Among the motifs and structures analysed are fundamental architectural icons such as ruins, tombs and monoliths, but also other, more unexpected ones
