Modern self-tapping screws enable strong, stiff timber connections, especially when inserted at an angle to transfer axial loads. While axial and lateral stiffness are well studied, rotational stiffness remains largely unexplored. This work investigates it using a new biaxial test setup, identifies key parameters, and develops a practical calculation model that accurately predicts rotational stiffness and can be integrated into future design standards.
