In this book, the author shares a collection of short stories and anecdotes about some of his personal and professional experiences as an employee of the Venezuelan company Petróleos de Venezuela (PDVSA),w hich was once one of the most important oil corporations in the world. Through a series of entertaining short stories, we can appreciate several elements of the corporate culture of a company that made meritocracy, teamwork, and a commitment to responsible excellence the essence of its strength as a successful organization—a situation that changed drastically when financial greed, hegemonic political control, and the excessive ambition of an authoritarian regime led to its operational and administrative decline. Beyond reminiscences of the past, the book conveys the optimism and pride of Venezuelan oil workers, and as one can infer from reading it, a renewed sense of resilient optimism for the advent of a better future for the country.
