This work, Advanced Theory of Statically Determinate Structures, seeks to redefine the boundaries of knowledge regarding isostatic systems. Through a rigorous approach integrating continuum mechanics, advanced matrix formulation, topology optimization, and geometric and material nonlinear analysis, the book demonstrates that isostaticity is not merely a basic, settled topic, but a vibrant field of research with critical applications in cutting-edge engineering. Revisiting isostaticity using 21st-century analytical and computational tools is not a regressive exercise, but a scientific necessity for underpinning advanced structural design. The scope of this work encompasses theoretical and analytical research into statically determinate systems under unconventional conditions: i. Geometric and material nonlinearity: analysis of isostatic behavior under large deformations, geometry changes along the load path, and localized plasticity. ii. Articulated structures and kinematically flexible systems: dynamic and static study of finite-kinematics mechanisms and deployable structures. iii. Isostatic topology optimization: algorithms for generating optimal morphologies based on isostatic networks. The following central questions serve as the unifying thread of the research underpinning this work: How do advanced analysis methods—such as geometric nonlinearity, topology optimization, and higher-order matrix formulations—transform the traditional understanding of statically determinate structures and enhance their application in optimal structural design and numerical engineering validation? How does large deformation affect the independence between element stiffness and stress distribution in a purely isostatic system?
