A frequently observed feature of the visual aesthetics of computer-animated films is the coexistence of realism and stylized abstraction. This hybrid aesthetic has been noted repeatedly in the research literature but has not yet been systematically examined. Therefore, this monograph develops a multidimensional model for the systematic analysis of the hybrid aesthetics of computer-animated films and demonstrates its application using three stylistically distinct case studies: *Soul* (2020), the *Lego Movie* series (2014–2019), and the *Spider-Verse* films (2018 & 2023). The work explores how hybrid aesthetics can be understood as a constitutive feature of computer-animated film and what stylistic diversity is possible through the hybridization of realistic and stylized aesthetic traditions.
