Metamorfoses (Μεταμορφώσεων Συναγωγή)

This work of Antoninus Liberalis, single specimen of this Greek poet of the Late Antiquity, follows the traditional expedient of metamorphoses. In simple Greek, the forty one small mythological episodes are a pragmatic trend imposed on a literature that is supposed to preclude immediate, condensing and quick read. Despite the stylistic simplicity, if any material provided by the author follows an old mythological tradition, Antoninus innovates and introduces his creative genius, considering the literary collection of classical antiquity that survived to the present day. The small originalities introduced would glow in later times, which, to our delight, wouldn’t let fall the author name in oblivion.
