Z združevanjem zgodovinsko-pedagoškega in filološko-didaktičnega vidika poskuša delo podati kompleksen pregled položaja klasičnih jezikov in klasične izobrazbe v slovenskem šolstvu od rojstva klasične gimnazije do leta 1945.
