Prospective English teachers need to be prepared to evaluate textbooks, they need to be familiar with the theory, methods, techniques, and tools used in evaluation. This handbook aims to provide teacher trainees with a rationale for the design of evaluation instruments for English textbooks in the context of school education This handbook is primarily designed for Czech students in initial English language teacher education in the Czech Republic. Nevertheless, Erasmus students, for example, are encouraged to compare the features of the Czech educational setting with the situation in their own country. and a sample instrument, including guidelines for its use
