Ovids Ars amatoria und Remedia amoris im Licht ihrer Rezeption

The love poet Ovid has fascinated people for 2000 years and has inspired countless other writers with his oeuvre. However, this survival has so far only been sporadically investigated. In his extensive study, Jan König offers a set of theoretical instruments with which literary forms of reception can be precisely determined. With its help, he presents texts in a rich echo chamber that continued Ovid's art of love and love's remedies. König puts the characteristics of love-didactic communication in a new light through milestones from the entire history of impact. He shows how the reception documents shape our current understanding of the Ovidian texts - and beyond that, where they can open up new perspectives for dealing with his teachings on love. Because they are not only of timeless literary brilliance, but also ask questions about sexual freedom and social roles of the sexes that are still relevant today.
