Das Werk des dänischen Theologen und Philosophen Sören Kierkegaard (1813-1855) galt lange als apolitisch und der sozialen Wirklichkeit gleichgültig gegenüberstehend. Kierkegaards Kernbegriffe " Verzweiflung glqq und " Glaube glqq und seine zentrale Kategorie des " Einzelnen glqq ließen das stereotype Bild von Kierkegaard als Denker eines isolierten Individuums entstehen, das sich bis heute gehalten hat. Ziel der vorliegenden Untersuchung ist es, dieses Bild zu korrigieren. Kierkegaards Denken, so soll argumentiert werden, enthält soziopolitische Implikationen, die sein gesamtes Werk durchziehen. Diese können heute nicht nur im Rahmen gesellschaftskritischer Überlegungen Beachtung finden, sondern erweisen sich darüber hinaus als äußerst anschlussfähig für zeitgenössische Diskussionen um den Begriff des Politischen.
