This volume examines the census, which takes place every ten years in Germany, from a variety of perspectives. On the one hand, it deals with the collection of the data, but also with its use in different contexts. The volume also draws a line from the past of the census to its present and future, whereby the census can be seen as a blueprint for digitalisation. The editors are postdoctoral researchers at the Helmut Schmidt University/University of the Federal Armed Forces Hamburg and conduct research in the fields of digital and technical transformation. With contributions by Prof. Dr. iur. Dipl.-Soz. Marion Albers | Dr. Svenja Behrendt | Stefan Dittrich | Lennart Fischer | Dr. Katharina Goldberg | Uwe Halfpaap | Dr. Sarah Hartmann | Prof. Dr. Ulrich Hufeld | Prof. Dr. Paula Prenzel | Prof. Dr. Hannah Ruschemeier | Sabine Sattelberger | Prof. Dr. Gary S.
