This volume brings together studies focusing on the history of printing in the Ottoman Empire and the Romanian Principalities in the 18th century across a variety of linguistic and confessional communities. It gives particular attention to the history and context of İbrahim Müteferrika’s Turkish press in Istanbul, as well as presses in South-Eastern Europe and the Levant and the Orthodox Christian liturgical texts they printed in Arabic.
