However, as a prohibitive right, it also inhibits access to new knowledge which is a prerequisite for the creation of further scientific publications. In view of the rising prices of scientific publications as well as the emergence of modern technologies and publication options (e.g. open access), the question arises: How much copyright protection does academic science need?
