The uniqueness of the publication is confirmed by its subject matter. The monograph points to the most important trends and phenomena in the integration processes in the 21st century, focusing mainly on the last decade. There is currently no publication on the market that would so comprehensively present current problems and challenges (e.g. Brexit, COVID-19 pandemic, NAFTA break-up) facing economically integrating regions around the world. The content of the publication contains not only typically academic reflections, but provides numerous examples and references to real integration processes. Thus, it lends credence to the theories and views presented in the study and discussed in the literature. The monograph provides a critical review of the theory, source documents and empirical research on the subject under discussion. This review is interdisciplinary in nature, as it is necessary to examine political as well as economic, social and legal issues in relation to integration processes. The practical approach to the subject makes the book suitable for a wide group of readers, e.g. academics, students of economics, including those majoring in international studies, or anyone interested in the problems of economic integration in the contemporary world. The publication is therefore useful for both theoreticians and practitioners who study the phenomena and effects of integration processes; it can also be used as an academic textbook.
