The study is the first to comprehensively examine the significance of literary multilingualism in German-language literature of the 20th and 21st centuries. In analyzes of works by Franz Kafka, Dada, Mascha Kaléko, Paul Celan, W.G. Sebald, Yoko Tawada and others, historical-cultural, literary aesthetic and media dimensions of text-internal multilingualism are worked out.
