In his letters 'On the Aesthetic Education of Man', Schiller stated that man is only fully human when he plays. Following on from this, this volume sees children's play as the driving force behind their mental and spiritual development. The contributions introduce the reader to the topic, address the current debate on gaming and explore the game theoretically by combining pedagogical and therapeutic approaches.
